When you're as big a market for pickups as Texas, you can expect special attention from truck manufacturers. Special models honoring the state have come from nearly every corner of truckdom, and Chevrolet is adding another to the pile with the 2014 Silverado Texas Edition. The latest Texas Edition (it isn't the first such Silverado) is offered on midlevel LT and snazzier LTZ versions of the 1500 crew cab and double cab, with either the short or standard box and rear- or all-wheel drive. Special Texas Edition badges adorn the front doors as well as the tailgate. The package costs $1415 on LTs and includes 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, the trailering package, a locking rear differential, and body-colored exterior mirrors and door handles.

The Texas Edition adds $1395 to the sticker of LTZ models, and chromes the 20-inch wheels, side mirror caps, and door handles. A Bose premium audio system with six speakers and a subwoofer is also standard. The crew cab models will be in showrooms soon; look for the double cab later this summer.

Those unfortunate enough to live somewhere other than the Lone Star state will have to console themselves with the Custom Sport package. It includes similar features, but isn't nearly as likely to be photographed in front of a footbaw football field.
